Focus and Scope

iBRICS: Journal of Multidisciplinary Study serves as a prominent platform for the evaluation and discussion of interdisciplinary research that bridges the natural sciences, arts, and humanities. The journal features work that examines the opportunities, complexities, and challenges of interdisciplinary research and practice, with the goal of fostering meaningful dialogue across diverse academic fields.

Rather than defining interdisciplinarity, iBRICS showcases what occurs when scholars venture beyond the boundaries of their own disciplines into others. It seeks studies that strive to establish common ground between different intellectual traditions, explicitly addressing the assumptions inherent within them. Recognizing the diversity of interdisciplinary research in terms of both methods and perspectives, the journal avoids treating interdisciplinarity as an unquestionable ideal. Instead, it offers a space for contributions that may not align with traditional disciplinary norms.

Furthermore, iBRICS expands the concept of "science" to encompass the broader notion of scientia (knowledge), inviting exploration across a wide range of disciplines from multiple viewpoints. Its purpose is not to merge disciplines or create a unified science but to encourage conversations that respect and illuminate disciplinary differences. Where commonalities emerge under careful scrutiny, they serve as starting points for further exploration rather than definitive conclusions.
